Roc-pi is a project that arose from an idea that the Rpi (Raspberry Pi) would make a very nice DIY stationary decoder for use with Rocrail. Using SRCP as a communications protocol, the software and hardware have proven to be reliable, inexpensive and easy to implement.
Why Rocrail? Rocrail is the only full featured model control software on the planet that does srcp right. It also happens to be the best.
Why srcp? Srcp is the only model control protocol that offers complete interoperability across platforms and communicates over TCP/IP.
Full featured servo and LED controller with feedback.
Solenoid and stall motor capable.
LED brightness controllable within Rocrail..
As many different LED special effects as can be imagined. (user programmed)
High current lighting capable.
Easy to build and assemble
Complete servo control including adjustable start and stop point, adjustable servo speed, switch feedback, and frog power switching.
Does not rely on track power.
Block detection (coming soon)
Many of the component pieces available off the shelf.
Less expensive than commercial packages.
Modular design – Easily customized
